Susan Forbes is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist and an integrative counsellor, with many years experience of working privately and within the NHS in GP surgeries. She provides one-to-one therapy and supervision from her consulting rooms in Broadstairs, Thanet, Kent. She helps people find their way forward through issues of anxiety, depression, stress and many other emotional and psychosomatic difficulties, such as OCD, trauma, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), body image issues, weight management, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties.
Susan believes that therapy is a collaborative partnership between therapist and client. Her guiding principle is that people have the strengths and resources to effect real change in their lives, when working in alliance with a sympathetic, empathic and attentive therapist. She works to build that strong alliance to allow her clients to realise their aims.
She employs a range of evidence-based therapeutic methods that are individually tailored to help her clients find solutions to their problems and progress to the achievement of their goals. In every case the intention is to offer the fastest route to the desired outcome. Susan is committed to the fundamental principle of brief therapy: that the client rapidly achieves independence in the most cost-effective way.
